According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every year, there are 15 million people worldwide who suffer from a stroke, of which 5 million people die and 5 million people are permanently disabled.
Notably, the number of young people suffering from strokes is on the rise, and the number of stroke cases in people under 45 is increasing significantly.
However, over 80% of stroke cases can be prevented by controlling risk factors such as hypertension, smoking, alcohol misuse, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, dyslipidaemia, diabetes, and obesity.
