A stroke occurs when one or more blood vessels supplying oxygen to the brain are damaged or blocked. If this condition lasts more than 3 minutes, brain cells begin to die.

Dr. Sabrina Stefanizzi, Department of Neurology, Hanoi French Hospital, with more than 20 years of experience in stroke prevention and treatment, says that Vietnam has a high stroke rate, which is a major concern.

There are two types of strokes: hemorrhagic, caused by a ruptured artery, and ischemic (blocked artery). If stroke patients are not treated promptly, they can fall into a coma and even die.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Mui, an Endocrinologist with over 20 years of experience at HFH: "Stroke or cerebrovascular accident is a dangerous complication and the leading cause of death in people with diabetes. The risk of stroke in people with type 2 diabetes increases 2 to 4 -fold compared to others.

However, the main risk factors for stroke are modifiable, and primary prevention is the most effective way to prevent it.

To help you recognize the signs and prevent the risk of stroke, the Prevention Center of Cardio-Vascular Disease at HFH is organizing a workshop "Stroke: From Prevention to Acute Management" with the participation of experts, French doctors, and Vietnamese doctors:
