The Gastrointestinal Surgery Department at Hanoi French Hospital works closely with the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Department to provide optimal medical and surgical diagnosis and treatment for digestive tract diseases.
Thanks to a highly qualified medical team and state-of-the-art equipment, the department performs both routine and emergency surgeries using conventional open techniques and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, helping patients experience less pain, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stays.
Scope of services & Key techniques
Gastrointestinal and abdominal wall surgery:
- Laparoscopic appendectomy
- Treatment of perforated gastric and duodenal ulcers
- Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and hiatal hernia
- Gastric surgeries: partial/total gastrectomy (benign/malignant tumors), gastrostomy, gastrojejunostomy
- Surgery for small bowel or colonic obstruction
- Management of abdominal trauma (liver, spleen, intestine), peritonitis due to hollow-organ perforation
- Colon and rectal surgery: partial/total colectomy by laparoscopy
- Inguinal and abdominal wall hernia repair with mesh placement by open or laparoscopic surgery
- Treatment of hemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, pilonidal abscess using techniques such as Longo stapled hemorrhoidopexy and HAL/RAR Doppler ligation

- Cholecystectomy
- Common bile duct and biliary stone removal

- Pancreatic and splenic surgery: pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple), splenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, cystojejunostomy (mainly open procedures)
