Scope of Practice

Examination & treatment:

• Examination and treatment of common gastrointestinal diseases: gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, Crohn’s disease.
• Diagnosis and treatment of liver, biliary, and pancreatic diseases: hepatitis B and C, cirrhosis, liver cancer, acute/chronic pancreatitis, biliary tract diseases.
• Management of chronic gastrointestinal conditions requiring long-term monitoring.

Digestive endoscopy:

• Diagnostic endoscopy: gastroscopy, colonoscopy, rectoscopy–anoscopy for detecting ulcers, polyps, Helicobacter pylori infection, and other lesions.
• Narrow-band imaging (NBI) endoscopy for early gastrointestinal cancer screening.
• Interventional endoscopy: polyp removal, hemostasis, foreign body extraction, gastrointestinal stricture dilation.

Cancer screening:

• Screening for esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancer to detect precancerous lesions and early-stage cancer.
• Specialized tests to ensure accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment planning.

The department collaborates in multidisciplinary consultations with surgeons and oncologists to treat and monitor the progression of gastric, colorectal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal cancers.
