Overview

Psychiatry deals with prevention, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mind and mental sufferings. This may be done in hospitals or in the community. Psychiatry adopts a medical approach and takes biological, psychological, and social or cultural factors into account.

Treatment may include medications in conjunction with various forms of psychotherapy and counselling .
