WHY IS HYPERTENSION NOW OCCURING AT YOUNGER AGE?
Last update 06/22/2023 - 08:45
While in 1960 only about 1% of the population had high blood pressure, by 2008 this number had risen to 25.5%, and currently it stands at around 30% of adults. The number of hypertension cases in Vietnam is increasing rapidly, and the age at which people develop high blood pressure is getting younger, with the age of onset now shifting to merely 30.
The leading causes of this trend in younger individuals developing high blood pressure include:
- Stress
- Life and work pressure with lack of good sleep and physical exercise,
- Diet and eating habits: food with too much salt, too much meat and animal fats, and inadequate consumption of vegetables.
- Heavy alcohol consumption
According to Dr. Kubo Shun, a Japanese specialist with some 15 years of experience in General & Family Medicine from Hanoi French Hospital: "Most patients with high blood pressure do not have specific symptoms. Only a few patients experience symptoms such as headaches, nosebleeds, and shortness of breath. However, these symptoms are often not clear and difficult to detect. It is only when the disease has progressed to a severe stage that it becomes apparent."
Therefore, it is essential to maintain regular health checkups at least once a year to monitor and detect any abnormalities early for timely treatment.
The HEALTH CHECKUP PACKAGES at Hanoi French Hospital are designed to cater to the specific needs and preferences of age groups to provide a comprehensive examination, helping customers have a full understanding of their health status and receive timely guidance for improving their physical well-being.
